Simple Mythology[]
Hyacinth was a beautiful youth, and lover of the god Apollo, and was also loved by Zephyrus, the West Wind. Hyacinth got killed when playing discus with Apollo, and a twist in this story is that this was due to the jealousy of Zephyrus.
In any case, Apollo did not allow Hades to claim Hyacinth, and instead turned the youth into a flower (also called hyacinth) from his blood.
